Artist's Comments

Title: "Little Earthquakes"
Artist: Monica Gayle Y. Alcudia
Medium: Mixed Media
Size: 24" x 36"
Year: 2008
Inspiration: Dance, dance, dance by haruki murakami (which is quite unclear of a reason for most people 8D)

My entry for 2008's UP fine arts annual student exhibit / jose joya art awards.

Sorry for the crappy quality, my cam decided to throw a biatchfit on me, so I had to rely on my friend's cam phone. The painting's actually hanging here in the house, but I never really bothered to get a better pic.

Will get on it soon, I s';pose. :3

Aaa do you want a crit on this one? get me a better pic!!! =)
So far i can only see that negative and positive shapes dnt connect that well. Also contrast wise the girl and the background are 2 different paintings and dont connect with eachother O_o Colorwise the same thing.
There is a trick to unify a painting and make it look consistant with itself instead of fragmented. If you got a dominant color make sure some of that color gets on everything or almost everything. Just a lil bit of it is enough. The reason is lighting. You know how things look different in different lights say sun vs incondessant light bulb? well same principal here. Same textures or consistant style (brush strockes, lines, etc.) also help a lot.
